Happy Holidays!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season. I had hoped to do a nice blog entry on past Christmases but as our big move is tomorrow, I don't have the time to do this now. Also due to problems with our internet provider I will be off-line for an undermined period to time.

The first photo is of the family in the 80s. I have moved to Dallas at this time and was back in Michigan for a visit. Mom made arrangements for the photographer that took Nicole, Heather, and my senior pictures to do this shot. The second photo is one from the 70s. If I remember correctly this was taken by family friend Jerry Sherida (husband of long time family friend Jan Sherida).

I hope that you all have time to enjoy the holidays with family and friends. I also hope that 2007 is a good year for us all. Bye for now...

Houses

Nannette's Homes...

Since I'm all excited about my first home, I was thinking that Nannette has lived in a lot of homes in her life. As her father was a traveling salesman, she did move around a lot. She started her life in Kansas, while her sister DeeAnn started her's in Kentucky. I will probably forget some of the places that she has lived but I know that before I was born she also lived in California and Texas. I also seem to remember that she lived in Tennesse as well.

I've included pictures from my grandparent's home in Dallas and from our home in Livonia. One of the pictues show and very young Nannette and John.

I can remember the houses in Livonia, Ortonville, Lake Orion, and Las Vegas. I don't really remember moving into Livonia as I was pretty young when we did that. I remember when we bought the house in Ortonville, me and my sisters really liked the house and we thought that mom and dad probably didn't, so we were surprised to find out that we all liked the house. It was a good house for Nannette while she was able to feed the birds, squirels, chipmunks, and other assorted animals. The house also came along at a time when mom and dad were thinking that it would be better to rais the 3 of us in a more rural setting where we would have room to play and grow. I wasn't with mom and dad when the found the house in Lake Orion, but I went with them a few times when they checked on the building progress. Because they found the house before it was totally built, mom was able to have a lot of influence on many of the details. With the house in Las Vegas, she was happy to finally be living in a warmer climate and I believe that she was really impressed when she and dad scouted out Las Vegas, it wasn't only slot machines and gambling as I had once believed. Since Aunt DeeAnn and her family have lived in the Reno area for quite a long time, this gave mom the chance to spend more time with her sister and her nieces that she had in quite some time.

While houses are made of brick, wood, stone, and a variety of other materials, they're also made of memories. So as I'm ready to start creating memories in my new house, I fondly look back at some of Nannette's houses those memories that I have.

Until next time...
